A Breastfeeding Retrospective…
Because I’m just not able to let go as quickly as I’d like.
If you’re my sister or not into public breastfeeding, I know you’ll want to skip this post. Close your browser NOW.
Below I give you Miss Leyba breastfeeding through the years, also known as THE POST WHERE YOU SEE MY BOOBS A LOT.
Remember, we live in California and I’m legally allowed to breastfeed ANYWHERE in the state.
So suck it.
I’m just feeding my child.

As a newborn (awww!)

At the Whole Foods parking lot at 5 months old (not pictured: the time I breastfed in the check-out lane to calm hysterical baby and the one time in the supplement section. And I am not the only one! I’ve seen other mamas breastfeeding in the store.)

In Silver City, New Mexico at the art store and gallery owned by my in-laws when she was six months old (possibly the only time I used a breastfeeding cover; that became a fun game of peek-a-boo really quickly! And it’s a major pain in the ass covering up. Sorry, that’s the truth.)

At home in January 2009 when she was one year old (LOVE this photo!)

In our Mama Baby Yoga Class when she was almost two (photo published in our local paper)

Last week in Golden Gate Park at two and a half (the LAST photo we have of her nursing!)
Sigh. She’s growing up so quickly.
Now excuse me while I go help myself to a drink. Ha, just kidding! Well, maybe.

Loved this :) I already feel pangs of sadness thinking of elsa weaning someday (80% sorrow, 20% excitement to be an autonomous person again!) – I’ve been trying to take as many breastfeeding pictures as possible!

While doing yoga?? That is some impressive mommy multitasking. :)

i agree! i am QUITE certain i cannot hold boat pose and feed people at the same time :)

I “third” the above sentiments–the boat pose one is definitely grounds for a Mommy Multitasking Medal!

Carrie–this is awesome. I’m still having some trouble wrapping my head around the breastfeeding thing, partially because it is something you don’t really see in modern society. I’m hoping it will come as naturally to me and my little one as it clearly did for you and Miss Leyba. We all need to get over our prudishness about it. (I’ve been thinking about making myself a cover that has bare breasts embroidered on the front of it).

Didn’t you have a cute picture on a plane? I thought I remembered one like that.

Aww…too sweet. Vaughn hasn’t nursed in a week – he’s been doing well (wasn’t sure if it would last since he sees his baby sister nursing all the time). Looks like Miss Leyba and Vaughn weaned at the same age almost exactly! It’s neat that they’re only 2 weeks apart!
