Join us for a walk on our street

August 31st, 2009

Sometimes she rides her tricycle, but more often she pushes it. (Fine by me; I am all about Miss Leyba wearing herself out running around.)

Video: Push that trike! from Carrie on Vimeo.

I love this movie for the very cute “oh no!” in the middle of it (about 1 minute in) when her trike gets stuck.

By the way she picked out her clothes and accessorized herself. Love that rockin’ headband! And evidently warm furry boots are perfect for cloudy days no matter how hot it is outside. This is Northern California and there are fashion standards to be maintained, after all.

A Summer of Visitors

August 31st, 2009

We’ve had so many friends and family visit us this summer and I feel negligent that I haven’t posted photos of everyone! Here is a catch-up post (in reverse chronological order)…

With Selena at Golden Gate Park (August 2009)

Hanging at home with Miss Leyba’s Great-Aunt Deborah-Miriam (August 2009)

On our street with Matthieu and Christina who visited us from France! (August 2009)

Eating yummy ice cream with Robin and Josh (July 2009)

Visiting thousand year old Redwoods and hanging at home with “Pop Pop,” my father. (May 2009) Miss Leyba came up with that name for him in the first half hour of his visit and it has stuck. In fact, she just came over, pointed at the screen and said, “Me! Pop Pop!” Love it.

Thanks for visiting us! We enjoyed each and every visit!

Dance Party

August 12th, 2009

Here’s what we were up to on Saturday Night! Dance, dance, dance party for Miss Leyba and a phenomenal concert for the rest of us.

Video: Dance Party from Carrie on Vimeo.

About halfway through the show she discovered that if you lay down on the floor you could really feel the vibrations. So dancing while lying on the floor became the ultimate Miss Leyba dance move.

We had such fun.

Thank you for inviting us to your birthday celebration, David! (our next door neighbor)

(Are you guys shocked (and hopefully pleased!) that this is my third post in a week? Let’s see how long I can keep this up.)

Playing With Paper Rings

August 11th, 2009

To quote Diana, my mother-in-law, “who says kids need toys?”

Miss Leyba LOVED these paper rings that Diana made for her!

We took a couple of videos (mostly of Miss Leyba putting the rings on herself) but this one is especially fun. It’s from the pre-birthday party BBQ at my in-laws place in New Mexico:

I think Miss Leyba may have been disappointed with the response. The time before this, the first time she debuted this stunt in public, everyone at the party cheered for her. Nevertheless, she’s a hit and so, so cute!

Trip to New Mexico

August 10th, 2009

We had a great time in New Mexico visiting family and friends and celebrating David’s Grandmother’s 80th birthday!

Here are just a couple photos — or 20 — from the trip.

(Hope you have a fast internet connection!)

Enjoy!

Isn’t that a stunning view?

Miss Leyba traveled beautifully and, believe it or not, we actually had a fun time together and she didn’t loose it on either of the days we spent flying and driving (over 12 hours door to door each way).

Visiting with Great Grandma (oh, sorting Shirley Temple dvds — what fun!) and giving goodbye kisses.

Cruising around the historic downtown:

Visiting with friends and family:

Three out of the four generations.

There we go!

Climbing stairs — a favorite activity that you can do practically anywhere…

Helping out in Grandma and Grandpa’s store.

See the painting of us nursing in the background? Good thing I am not particularly modest (although I did refrain from posting all of the breastfeeding photos from the trip; aren’t you proud?).

Cuddling with Tasha while feeling overwhelmed at Great Grandma’s party.

Not sure about this whole blowing out the candles thing either.

Happy Birthday, Marilyn!

Helping out with the slide show.

Family photo… such a serious bunch.

Oh, the dogs. Miss Leyba LOVED the dogs… here are a few of her new, special friends.

Painting of us by my mother-in-law on display at the Mimbres Region Arts Council. We’re famous.

Coming soon: movies from the trip! (one of these days, anyhow.)
