Ocean getaway

September 26th, 2005

We are off to enjoy our honeymoon!

Drinks by the pool, runs along the beach, swims in the ocean, dips in the pool, spa treatments, morning yoga classes, late night clubbing, great seafood, walks along the beach, time to read, relax, and soak up the sun. 24-7 with each other. Very needed. Very excited.

New ‘Do

September 24th, 2005

I broke down and decided to try one of the chic hair salons in Boulder. I feared it would break the bank, but needed to try something new. I really wanted to like my haircut. I really wanted to feel stylish. I really wanted something simple and hip.

I found it.

Long in front, super short in the back.

Thirty-five dollars later (can you believe it?!), I have a haircut that I love and a new salon that I intend to frequent.

Running routine

September 21st, 2005

David and I have been running on a regular basis since mid-May. We both love the time together and enjoy catching up on the events of the day. We find running clears our minds and really helps us un-stress at the end of a long day.

This week, however, we switched over to a morning running schedule, as the setting sun has been beating me home from work. I am amazed by how energized and productive my days have been since we made the switch. Of course, immediately after our run, I am completely beat; however, by around 8:30 am or so I find myself flooded with energy and enthusiasm. I love it, but pity my coworkers. Imagine Carrie thinking so clearly so very early in the morning and bouncing off the walls. Hey, at least I think it’s fun! And I’ve been getting a tremendous amount of work done. Here’s to a new routine.

Wedding Photo Albums

September 18th, 2005

Yesterday afternoon (all afternoon!) I tackled the 600+ photos from our wedding. First I removed the blurry photos, then I organized them chronologically and put them into three albums: one album for pre-ceremony posed shots and snapshots of getting ready, one for the ceremony, and one for the celebration afterwards. (I still have some digital photos that I need to print, so I have another album all ready to go for those.) I am so glad to check this off my to-do list (and a week before we leave for our honeymoon, no less!)!

Top photos: bridesmaids and my best friends Ranni and Kate-Robin; middle left photo: with my cousin Julia and my sister and maid of honor Laura; middle right photo: our flower girl Georgia (in the background are Aunt Anita and Aunt Melissa); bottom photo: David and me with our parents.

April’s Baby Shower

September 17th, 2005

Last weekend I headed to the Washington, D.C. area for April’s Baby Shower throw by one of April’s running buddies, Emily, in Potomac, Maryland. We had such a fantastic time! There were seven of us from the Biosphere MPA program at the party and I loved seeing Maeve, Janelle, Ellen, Amy, Beth and April! What a group of brilliant women with high-powered jobs! I also met several of April’s other friends and chatted with her mom, whom I haven’t seen in two years; it was great! The food was yummy, the house where the party was at was stunning, the conversation first rate, and the gifts for April plentiful! Above is a sampling of photographs from the party for you to enjoy.

Lots of Traveling

September 15th, 2005

I just got back from a three day business trip to Florence/Canon City, Colorado, where I met some really nice people, identified a town’s worth of irrigated areas, really got the hang of driving stick shift (while using our company car), and got a ton of work done. The trip was very productive and I am so pleased with how it went. I also had a really good time.

Nevertheless, after being apart from my husband for six days of the past week, I am looking forward to our dinner date tonight and the upcoming eleven days of uninterrupted Spritzer Leyba honeymoon time down in Mexico.

p.s. Here’s a fun website for your surfing pleasure: Minimian created by Akiko Ida and Pierre Javelle. Be sure to visit the ‘Galerie’ (note: the site is in French, but navigation is easy even for non-French speakers!)!
