‘Yes’ to glitter: I would use a contrasting color like red, or gold or blue and just put glue on one side of the cone and dip it. Like the way you dip fruit in chocolate and don’t cover the whole thing, you know? Classy.

i agree with Alice. *and* with Miss Leyba. alternately, you could just put glitter on the edges, instead of on the whole pine cone? maybe?

I’m going to vote for no glitter on the silver pine cones as they are already fully covered, BUT I am very much a fan of the more naturalistic glitter-dot method of decorating pine cones and I recommend that for any you have left. =) The formula that I’m sure your household knows so well: Hold pine cone upside down. Place single dots of glue on as many cone scales as desired. Sprinkle on glitter. Shake off excess glitter. Make large mess doing so. Let glittered glue dots dry. Voila! The natural, woodsy look of the pine cone is still visible but it has that special disco holiday glitter feel.

how about add glitter to half of the pine cones? that way, glitter is involved (YAY GLITTER!) but you also still have some demure understated non-glittered ones in case the glitter ends up being overkill :)
