Thank you, everyone!

And, wow, does coconut milk ice cream sound good. We’re so going to have to track that down.

We do eat meat, but it’s getting harder to find meat that’s not…scary, so that might change. If you are craving something creamy and non-dairy, I recommend coconut milk ice cream. It is so good and I’d happily go without the dairy version. There’s also hemp milk which is far creamier than rice or soy milk. I think the biggest problem with being diary and wheat allergic is the fact that a lot of the fake meat products are made of gluten. I could get you a list of other items we frequently buy, so let me know! Rice crackers with hummus is always great.

Sabra is by far the best Hummus this side of Jerusalem :) It’s the closest we’ve found in the states that tastes like what we have in Israel. Love it! Peanut butter and bananas is always a good filler upper too.

Throw in a few spices as the pan warms, then dump in water or gluten-free stock, dal, and any other flavoring of your choice. Voila! Gluten-free meal whose flavor can be changed countless times depending on what you throw in. Lots of online recipes available if you’re looking for inspiration. Not as filling as pasta, but it’s definitely on par with hummus. I understand it freezes well, too, but I actually haven’t tried it. Yum!

A friend of mine told me it was like a different food, and I entirely agree. I’m not sure whether it has ingredients that you might not want, but I learned about it from a pregnant orthodox Jewish bar review classmate who was sitting behind me and eating it one day. It’s kosher, if nothing else. :-) So good, especially the kind with pine nuts! The woman from bar review had these little Sabra To Go containers where one side is hummus and the other is pretzel chips. They are my savior on nights when I have to work late!
