If you have a weekend to go camping, you just MUST drive up to the Redwoods. If you’ve never seen them, they are just amazing (even if you have seen them, they are still amazing!). One of my favorite places is the John Muir Wilderness. I think it may be a bit of a drive from you, though. I’m not sure where the closest redwood groves are, but you just must make a point of going to see them sometime (TONS of cool photos just waiting to be taken, I promise!).
