But don’t these spaces seem so inviting? They make me want to sit down with a good book and put my feet up. And clearly I have a thing for wooden decks. Who knew?!

Fire Pits – Week of Design https://familyblog.spritzerleyba.com/2009/10/16/fire-pits-week-of-design-day-5/ https://familyblog.spritzerleyba.com/2009/10/16/fire-pits-week-of-design-day-5/#comments Fri, 16 Oct 2009 16:00:35 +0000 http://familyblog.spritzerleyba.com/?p=2120 I have always enjoyed bonfires and fire pits. I enjoy the process of setting up the fire, like cooking over an open flame (hello, s’mores and popcorn!), and watching the embers burn and the fire die down. I think now that the fall crisp weather is on it’s way, I become nostalgic for the fire pit at my grandparents house. I like to think that someday we’ll have our own, a place for friends and family to gather.

Garden Paths – Week of Design https://familyblog.spritzerleyba.com/2009/10/15/garden-paths-week-of-design-day-4/ https://familyblog.spritzerleyba.com/2009/10/15/garden-paths-week-of-design-day-4/#comments Thu, 15 Oct 2009 16:00:27 +0000 http://familyblog.spritzerleyba.com/?p=2107 I love how garden paths define spaces and set the tone for your yard space. I feel excited about the endless combinations of materials, path shapes, and the types of borders (including plants) that are available to us, although sometimes the plethora of choices can be overwhelming when setting up a space. Hope these inspire you to get outside and work in your yard. I think they are divine.

Subway Tiles – Week of Design https://familyblog.spritzerleyba.com/2009/10/14/subway-tiles-week-of-design-day-3/ Wed, 14 Oct 2009 16:00:38 +0000 http://familyblog.spritzerleyba.com/?p=2102 I know that white tiles with white grout can be hard to keep clean, but man does it look nice! Check out the diversity of these kitchens. Hard to believe they use the same type of tiles throughout.

Outdoor Showers – Week of Design https://familyblog.spritzerleyba.com/2009/10/13/outdoor-showers-week-of-design-day-2/ https://familyblog.spritzerleyba.com/2009/10/13/outdoor-showers-week-of-design-day-2/#comments Tue, 13 Oct 2009 16:30:37 +0000 http://familyblog.spritzerleyba.com/?p=2036 I love taking an outdoor shower. With the sky above you and, preferably, river rocks or a smooth deck beneath you while wearing your birthday suit, one feels a strong connection to the natural world. I vividly recall the few outdoor showers I’ve taken with such fondness and incredible mental clarity. Indoor showers just don’t compete.

I love the idea that an outdoor shower can be as simple as a hose and bucket. Of course, the ones below are a little more exciting for me.
